New Jersey Chapter of The International Association of Business Communicators Recognizes
Steve E. Goodman as 2007 Communicator Of The Year

FAIRFIELD, N.J., April 10, 2007 - Steve E. Goodman, general manager and founder of The SPI Group, a New Jersey-based communications firm, has been named 2007 Communicator of the Year by the New Jersey chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (NJ/IABC). The award was presented at a ceremony at the Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club in Scotch Plains, N.J., on Thursday, April 3.

Individuals recognized as Communicator of the Year by NJ/IABC are chosen because they personify excellence in business communications in New Jersey and have consistently displayed expertise and professionalism in the delivery of information.

"Steve Goodman is a dedicated communications professional who has had an illustrious career, gaining him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and clients," said Elvin Montero, NJ/IABC president. "We are delighted to honor someone with such commitment to communications excellence as NJ/IABC's Communicator of the Year."

Goodman was nominated for the NJ/IABC 2007 Communicator of the Year award by his employees at The SPI Group, many of whom have been part of The SPI Group since its early days on Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair, N.J. He said he shares this honor with his staff, noting, “We take pride in successfully meeting communications challenges, while serving as seamless extensions of our clients’ teams.”

Goodman believes that the best communications support comes from a communications team who can harness new technology to design and implement a solution – and then continue to support the solution once it has been deployed. These are the fundamentals on which his company is based and are embedded in its name: Strategy, Planning, Implementation.

At the award ceremony, Goodman remarked, “The challenge to all of us is to embrace new technology communications channels – and to shape and manage them to meet the unique needs of our organizations and audiences. At the end of the day, it’s the professional communicator’s participation in the use of technology – our communications strategy, quality content and ongoing management of the process – that delivers the benefits of new communications technologies and demonstrates our value to our clients.”
